Sometimes when the Local Authority become involved in a family they take an initial assessment and feel that the child is, what is called “a child in need”. This means the child is not at risk of significant harm and therefore, does not need to be removed but the family need to be supported.
They will hold a conference in which all professionals involved in that child’s life will be asked to attend, with the parents and any other people who are responsible for the day to day care of the child. Everyone is asked to look at ways to protect the child.
It is important that all accounts regarding any incidents involving the parents are correct, as this will form the first documented evidence with regards to this child, which may be used in the future in relation to removal proceedings. The minute Social Services become involved with your child you need to contact MSB Solicitors.
Legal aid will be available to represent you.
