MSB International Family Team are very excited as their battle to reunite a father with his children reaches the Supreme Court
The children, aged 7 and 8 years, have been detained overseas by their mother without the father's consent. The children are believed to be living in an area which is unsafe, suffering very poor health and a complete lack of education. The father has been fighting to bring his children back to the UK for the past 2 years, having also issued proceedings in the overseas jurisdiction without success. Wendy Eves, Solicitor dealing with the case, says "Whilst this case has become very close to my heart, there is a wider interest agenda here too. With increased international movement and relocation of families and children overseas, these issues are likely to appear time and time again. We hope the Supreme Court will be able to give some further guidance as to the appropriate courts to deal with such matters, and that the English Courts retain jurisdiction more frequently in order to safeguard the interests of British children detained or abducted overseas."
A hearing date in the Supreme Court is now awaited. MSB dealt with this case on a pro bono basis until legal aid could be secured
